Wireless Phones

If you have spare mobile phones, pagers, PDA's sitting on a shelf or in a drawer, you can recycle them in an environmentally and socially responsible manner. Just take them into your local mobile phone store and they will ensure the phone is disposed of properly.

Participating Companies:

  • AT&T Wireless
  • Cingular Wireless
  • Donate A Phone
  • Motorola
  • Nextel
  • Nokia
  • Sony Ericsson
  • Sprint
  • Staples
  • Verizon Wireless

As of July 2006, businesses that sell mobile phones are required to take them back from prior customers or in exchange for a newly purchased phone. Businesses can then dispose of the cell phones properly, given that they contain hazardous materials that are now banned from landfills — such as lead, cadmium, and brominated fire-retardants, which are known health hazards.
